How this works
Screenshots save as PNG, which is lossless and therefore heavy — a full-screen grab on a retina display regularly passes 5 MB.
WEBP handles the flat colour and crisp text of interface screenshots very well, typically cutting the file to a third with no visible difference in documentation or a bug report.

Yes. At our default quality, WEBP holds interface text cleanly. Use lossless WEBP if you want an exact copy.
